For those of us who live for great design, whether that be for work or pleasure, there’s nothing that compares to a great design expo, where the best and boldest creatives in the world exhibit their most innovative and exciting new works and creations. While there are countless design events and fairs happening all over the world, there are a few exceptional events that set the bar for great design. We’ve picked six of the best design fairs taking place in 2017 and 2018 that will change how you think and feel about modern design.

Maison & Objet
Paris, France
Sept 08-12, 2017 & Jan 19-23, 2018

The bi-annual interior trade show is one of the most respected and renowned in the world. Design mavens flock to the french capital to discover the best in European furniture and product design every January and September in this awe-inspiring showcase that spans four days. See for more.

Salone del Mobile Milano
Milan, Italy

Milan’s reputation as a design mecca is solidified each year with the frenzy of excitement that is Salone del Mobile Milano also known as Milan Design Week. With over 2,500 exhibitors drawing 370,000 attendees attending the fair is intense – but worth it. Make sure you have your walking shoes on and don’t bother to make a plan – you’ll get overwhelmed. Just wander and see what you uncover. Keep your eyes peeled for the Workplace exhibitions, which always inspire us to reimagine our home office;

Oslo Design Fair
Oslo, Norway
August 30- September 2, 2017

This is the biggest design fair in Norway and a veritable treasure trove of Nordic inspiration. It can be divided into three main exhibitions – Talent (the best from young designers), Tradition (design that links back to Norwegian handicrafts), and Trends (of-the-moment designs). Stockholm Design Week
5-11 February 2018
Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm Design Week’s Furniture & Light Fair is the world’s largest meeting place for Scandinavian furniture and lighting design. Expect new products, innovative new materials and environmental and technological solutions on a grand scale. This fair is right up GAFF’s street – as massive fans of the Scandinavian aesthetic visiting this fair is our idea of a dream week. There really is something for everyone here;

For the very best of Japanese design look no further than Design Tokyo. A special committee approves everyone showcased here, so the standard is exceptionally high. This is the show we are most excited about, of course, because it’s homed here in our very own RDS, jam-packed with the very best in Irish suppliers and innovative design.
